The Plan
The aim of the project is to develop a marine garden (maara moana) and to enhance the ecosystem in which it grows. Grounded in matauranga Māori and guided by mana whenua, in collaboration with Marine Scientists, we will work together embodied by Mohimohi Moana (Taking care of the ocean) in the ongoing replenishment and kaitiakitanga of the moana.
Motuhi Maara Moana
Located on the eastern end of Bland Bay. An outcrop of rocks and small islands heading north from the shore line.

Scientific Research
Natalie is currently researching with a Mohomohi Moana master scholarship to see what species live in our seabed and ocean waters.
